STUDENT INFORMATION PAGE
Clothing:
- If you are completely new to bellydance, don't
worry that you might need any special clothing! All you need to begin
is something which is comfortable and easy to move around in - jogging
bottoms or leggings and a t-shirt or crop top is fine. You can dance
in bare feet or wear flexible soled footwear such as jazz shoes or ballet
slippers - please do not wear trainers as they do not allow enough
flexibility of movement.
Health:
- Bellydancing is mainly a low impact or no-impact
exercise which basically means that you have at least one or both feet on
the floor while performing the movements. This means it is suitable
for most women, whatever size, age, or level of fitness. This feminine
and beautiful dance form lets women experience a sense of achievement from
each new move which is mastered - not to mention the tremendous enjoyment
from the fun involved. However, if you have any health related issues
it is best to check with your doctor before undertaking any type of
exercise.
Performance:
- If you are really keen and would like eventually
to perform , whether in a group or as a soloist, I do have a performance
group "The Cairo Cats" for which I run extra choreography workshops
incorporating performance skills. Whether you would like to perform or not,
regular workshops are organised with myself and visiting teachers to complement the weekly
classes.
