Workshops

Vivienne is available to teach workshops in your area - a selection of those available is listed below:

Beginners Veil Technique and Mini Choreography

This workshop will introduce new dancers to veil technique including the importance of posture, how to hold the veil, spins and turns, flourishes, the Roman Cape etc.  Combining the moves learned into a short choreography at the end of the workshop.  Dancers must have a knowledge and understanding of basic oriental dance technique.

Time needed: 2 - 2.5 hours

Intermediate Veil incorporating More Advanced Technique

This workshop will concentrate on introducing more advanced dancers to more difficult veil technique including the Grecian Wrap, the Cone,  one handed veil technique, the flower, etc.  Combining the moves learned into a short choreography at the end of the workshop.

Time needed: 2 - 3 hours

Beginners' Saidi with Cane

A workshop for dancers who are new to Saidi style and particularly the cane.  Will include rhythm, typical saidi movements, how to hold the cane, how to twirl the cane forward and back, in particular introducing the use of both hands when twirling the cane.

Time needed: 2 - 3 hours

Intermediate Level Saidi choreography with Cane

Learning a choreography to El Wala Wala by Hakim, using more advanced dance movement and cane technique.

Time needed: 2 - 3 hours

Introduction to Egyptian Style Bellydance

A workshop for complete beginners or those very new to bellydance.  Focusing on basic technique including: the hip drop, horizontal and vertical figure eights, the hip bump (tac), travelling steps, chest moves, snake arms and whatever else we can fit into the time available.

Time needed: minimum of 3 hours

Drum Solo Combinations

For those who are new to drum solo and want to feel less afraid and understand more easily how to turn the music into a dramatic and effective drum solo.  Combinations of moves counted in bars of eight will help you to be more creative when choreographing your own drum solo.

Time needed: 2 - 3 hours

Oriental Raqs Sharqi Style Choreography - Intermediate level

Using a lovely piece of music by Nancy Ajram "Ya Si El Sayed" - you will learn an atmospheric choreography incorporating more advanced technique.

Time needed: 3 hours minimum
